This journal chronicles my travels across the world as a soldier, an adventurer and an alcohol enthusiast. These are the stories of the places I’ve seen, the experiences I’ve had and the people I’ve met along the way.

After coming home from a peacekeeping mission in East Timor with the Australian Army I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I had always wanted to learn a second language and so a  week later I flew to Finland and caught the Helsinki-Moscow overnight train to start a Russian language course at Moscow State University.

I moved into the University’s dorms, a dilapidated 22 story building that was built for the athletes of the 1980 Olympics. I spent the next 5 months living in Moscow and then travelling around Russia and Europe before eventually flying home but still craving more adventure.  It was during the post-trip depression that I realised I had become a travel addict and was only at my happiest when on an overseas adventure. From that point forward I did as much travel as possible and have created this site to inspire others to do the same.

Winter in Moscow
